Today, at the Basilica of the Volto Santo in Manoppello, Italy; Padre Domenico's life was remembered. On this exact day of the week that Padre Domenico died in 1978, September 17th, let us recount his final words and especially remember him in prayer for our intentions. There have been hundreds of testimonies given on the life of this humble priest including many, many miracles.
During the funeral Mass, 60 priests participated and people from all over Italy. Bishop Vincenzo Fagiolo from the diocese of Chieti-Vasto, later to become a Cardinal, officiated on September 20, 1978.
It is with the sincerest wish and prayers, that the earthly remains of Padre Domenico, may be returned someday to the Basilica of the Volto Santo; where he could be reunited with the Holy Face of Jesus, the precious relic that he loved so. Padre Domenico made it his mission to make this cloth with our Lord's Face known throughout the world. Even St. Padre Pio bilocated to see this image once last time on September 22, 1968.
