Padre Carmine Cucinelli first arrived in Manoppello in September 2004. Over the years, Padre Cucinelli was instrumental in helping to make both the image of the Volto Santo and the Servant of God Padre Domenico da Cese known throughout the world. One of his most fond moments was that of the visit of Pope Benedict XVI on September 1, 2006, when he not only welcomed but instructed Pope Benedict XVI on this most precious relic of the Face of Jesus. It was shortly after on September 23rd that the Sanctuary of the Volto Santo was declared a Minor Basilica, and on September 1st, 2007, Pope Benedict XVI wrote the "Prayer to the Holy Face" and sent it to Padre Cucinelli in memory of his pilgrimage a year before.

Padre Cucinelli was also responsible for transcribing and cataloging many testimonies, photographs and letters regarding Padre Domenico, especially with the help of Padre Vincenzo D' Elpidio, Padre Eugenio Di Giamberardino Vice Postulator and Sr. Petra-Maria Steiner.
He also established the first Chapel dedicated to the Servant of God Padre Domenico da Cese within the Basilica of the Volto Santo on September 20, 2020.

Padre Carmine Cucinelli will be at the Marian Shrine in Giulianova - Sanctuario Madonna dello Spendore where another miraculous event occurred in 1557. The Blessed Mother asked a farmer to construct a chapel there and made a spring flow at the foot of an olive tree which still occurs to this day.
